Reed Monson (1967-1970) was a letter winner and standout basketball player at Red River. His team won Red River’s first ever State Championship in 1969, and finished state runner-up in 1968 and 1970. Reed was named to the All-State Second Team in 1968, and the All-State First Team in both 1969 and 1970. Reed played one year at the University of Tennessee, played professionally in France from 1973-1989, and coached professionally in France from 1989-2003. Reed Monson received votes for two All-Century North Dakota basketball teams, solidifying himself as one of the state’s greatest prep players of all time!
